Greg Jockims is the most recent addition to Golden Ticket Sports Inc. In his role, Greg will oversee and advise on the operation of all basketball-related activities, and will frequently provide on-court instruction at Golden Ticket camps and sessions. He will also coach the Bridge City U21 basketball team in the Canadian Junior Basketball League (CJBL).
Greg began his coaching career in 1988 with the Men’s Basketball Team at SIAST Technical School. After three years at SIAST, he spent another three years in Saskatoon coaching youth and grassroots basketball programs. In 1991, Jockims took hist first Canadian Interuniversity Sport (Abbreviated as CIS, now known as U Sports) coaching job as an assistant with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Men’s Basketball Team. He spent one year with the program before moving to the University of Victoria, occupying the same bench role, now with the Vikes Men’s Basketball Team. Greg also spent time as an assistant with the Saskatoon Slam, part of the since-dissolved NBL, and with the Canadian Senior Men’s National program.
In 1994, Greg accepted his first job as head coach of the University of Cape Breton Capers Men’s Basketball program. In his first season, he led the Capers to a 20-12 record, winning the Atlantic University Sports (AUS) Conference Championship and finishing third in the nation. Jockims tallied 58 wins in his four-year tenure as head coach.
In 1998, Greg accepted an offer to become the 8th head coach in U of S Huskies Men’s Basketball history. He would go on to coach in 423 CIS games (most in program history) and win 198 games (2nd in program history). Most notably, in the 2009-10 campaign, Jockims led the Huskies on a historic run, finishing conference play with a 14-6 record, and defeating the University of Calgary to capture the program’s first Canada West Conference Championship. The season of firsts for the Huskies continued in the national CIS Final 8 tournament as Jockims and the Huskies defeated the Universities of Windsor, Carleton and British Columbia in the quarterfinal, semifinal, and championship games, clinching the program’s first, and only, W.P. McGee Trophy as CIS National Champions. Greg was subsequently named U of S Huskies Coach of the Year, and the team was nominated for the Sask. Sport “Team of the Year”. He resigned from the program following the championship season.
Following his tenure with the Huskies, Jockims occupied various roles with Basketball Saskatchewan; as Assistant Coach of the U15 women’s team in 2015, High Performance Coach of the 2018-19 U17 women’s team, and Technical Director of the organization in 2019-20. He has also worked with various club basketball teams in the province, coaching his two children throughout their playing careers.
In 2019, Greg was named General Manager and Head Coach of the Saskatchewan Rattlers in the inaugural season of the professional-level Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). He led the team to an 11-9 regular season record, reaching the first ever CEBL Championship Weekend, played on the Rattlers’ home court at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The team would go on to defeat the Hamilton Honey Badgers in the final game, capturing the league’s first championship.
Jockims follows a simple formula for success on the basketball court: “Team First + Hard Work + Compete = Development and Enjoyment” … and consistently ensures he holds players accountable to always, “Listen and pay attention, work hard, try your best, and compete with yourself first.” He also holds coaches accountable to, “Ensure that participants enjoy their experience, and grow not only as basketball players, but also as individuals off the court as well.”

Greg resides in his hometown of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan with his wife and two kids where he works as an educator with the public school system, and franchisee of multiple Booster Juice locations; a Canadian smoothie and juice bar.
